The PHS Guardian Angel Program

Are you over 55? Are you looking for a little companionship and unconditional love?

Why not try our Senior-to-Senior Adoption program!

If you're over 55, we have older pets (8 years and older) who are just looking for food, a warm place to nap and some love!

Adoption fees are waived and a PHS volunteer will help take (not pay) the pet to the vet.

Or, if you have a little more in your heart to give, try our Long Term Foster program. Adoption Fee is waived, PHS volunteer will help with taking the pet to the vet (if desired), and approved vet costs covered. Routine vet costs are the responsibility of the owner.

All PHS pets are up to date with shots and vacinations and are spayed or neutered.

The Putnam Humane Society will ALWAYS take the pet back for whatever reason. We just want them to be loved and cared for.

Please call 845-225-7777 with any questions.

The following are lists of cats and dogs who qualify for this program:

CATS
Sassy
Single Female Looking for love. Last of the 11 senior cats thrown over the gates last summer. Very friendly and sweet.
Theresa
Shy and sweet, she came to PHS after her owners lost their home in a fire. She would do best in a quiet home. She does have some conjunctivitis, but is in good health..

Brenda Senior female pit mix, black with some white markings. I am very vocal in my run, but take me out and all I want to do is hug and cuddle with you - I just can’t get enough. I am very fit, and would like someone to help me stay in shape, and shower me with love. I have lots to return!

Diego is a senior male pit mix. He is part of out Senior Foster program. He is one of the most affectionate and friendly dogs at the shelter. He is also athletic and smart! He would like an active owner to take nice long walks and runs with. Somewhat fearful of strangers but a love bug once he knows you.

Health: In great health
Personality: Nice girl once she knows you. Good on a leash.
